There is one method of using the EA Store DLC maps with the Steam version described in the on-mirrors-edge forum. I haven't tried it myself yet, so I'm leaving it on the talk page for now.
EDITmod: just in case mediafire link expired, DLC converter is here
Its worth popping it up on the page, then referencing your source for now. Many of the fixes published on the site aren't tested by ourselves, we inherently rely on the integrity of the fan community :)
I've tried it now, and it's no longer possible to get the DLC without owning the main game on Origin. They removed downloads outside of the Origin client. You can buy it, but there is no way to download it. It wont even show up in the Origin client's game list without having the main game.
Talking to EA support about this, but I'm not optimistic. There is of course ways of getting the DLC from other sources, but I was hoping we could avoid that.
Its worth trying to get into one of their live chat support things and then complaining, I've had good outcomes from that in the past.
The chart says windowed mode is supported natively but I can't find any option for it, and this sounds pretty unequivocal. Googling around, it seems DxWnd 2.x is the only way to get Mirror's Edge to run in a window.
The Steam version seems to have huge problems with alt-tab:ing under Windows 7. Doing it twice in the same session left a black rectangle covering everthing but the bottom 10% or so on my main screen. Even the Windows Task Manager was covered, so there was no easy was to kill it. I ended up running "taskkill /IM mirrorimage.exe /F" in the start menu search box to get back to the desktop.
