Epic Games Store unfixed "Profile has been changed" bug and fixes

4
Biglord (talkcontribs)

The game was made free in the Epic Game Store last Thursday, the 6th of April (2023), and apparently an old unfixed bug has reared its ugly head, one that the devs apparently neglected to fix in the EGS version.

In short, the game kicks you out to the main menu at random times, apparently out of nowhere (it's apparently linked to saving a checkpoint) and tells you "Profile has been changed". This makes progressing through the game VERY difficult, or even impossible, since when you restart you'll spawn back at the tower lobby. By the way, you'll *need* to quit the game and restart, because your save will be gone until you do it (you're effectively playing on a different Xbox/Playstation profile, but on EGS).

Since a LOT of new players came in, there's a few solutions and I can confirm at least *one* works. Here's a pinned thread in the game's subreddit with a bunch of them.

I'd like to edit the "Issues fixed" session of the main page, using that thread, and the multiple fixes, but I'm very inexperienced in this. Just wanted to give back to this Wiki that has helped me so many times already. Can anybody help?

Did you test any of the specific mentioned fixes yourself by any chance ? It sounds like an issue with EOS causing the logouts or profile changes. But can't really say for sure.

Did the block in the firewall work out for you ?

Hi,

I added a new section for this, but I can't verify or test any of these so I just added an initial temporary draft/placeholder. Please feel free to extend it further as needed.

Editing it is as easy as clicking [edit] to the left of the "Profile has been changed" header, and then use the editor or copy/paste to insert new wikitext, and use the Show preview feature to preview the changes before publishing them.

Br,

The one that 100% worked for me was the "Create new shortcut to DyingLightGame.exe with specific parameters" fix. I fully trust that it's working, so I edited the placeholder to reflect it. Please fix my edit if necessary, thanks!

Cleaned up unofficial fixes

I did a big cleanup of the instructions to disable chromatic aberration and disable sun shadows, including updating them to assume players are on the latest patch and indicating they both work on Linux and Windows. A mirror of the disable chromatic aberration mod not in a .7z format would be nice, even though the format is open source, it doesn't have much benefit for small patches like this and can be more of a pain to users that can't read it. Thanks, ToXicKnight (talk) 04:36, 28 November 2015 (UTC).

Chromatic aberration

The page says that the game has an official option for this. Is the workaround still necessary?

Primey (talkcontribs)

I can't see any official option to disable it. I don't have the game but searching the patch notes for Chromatic aberration results in nothing.

Disable film grain & Disable sun shadows

I noticed these two fixes but I'm stratching my head here. Can anyone else confirm they have varlist_noise.scr and varlist_performance.scr in their config file location? Because I sure don't

EDIT: The user finally edited to include all of the steps. Please ignore this discussion.
