DW profile update error 102 - 'BD_EXCEPTION_IN_DB'

4
Solarstrike (talkcontribs)

Taken verbatim from this post (https://blog.activision.com/t5/World-at-War-Forum/DW-profile-update-error-102-BD-EXCEPTION-IN-DB/td-p/10664987): "But myself, along with my friends and many others on the Steam community discussions have been receiving this error all day when we launch the game and the game attempts to connect to the servers.

And whenever you try to close the error, it just keeps popping back up again which prevents you from clicking any other actions, and thus makes the game unplayable."

Workarounds available yet?

Solarstrike (talkcontribs)

Found a workaround here (http://steamcommunity.com/app/10090/discussions/0/1694914735992755049/?ctp=3): "Your newly created profile is trying to sync with a database over at Treyarch/Activision. Either it is full/down/etc (Most likely full due to previously created profiles being able to get online).

You will have to wait for them to fix it server-side. What you can do now to at least PLAY the game is to go into: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles and delete your profile. You will not be able to get online, but that is better than not being able to play at all."

Solarstrike (talkcontribs)

Never mind, workaround didn't work.

EpicallyEvil (talkcontribs)

Just disconnect your internet if you want to play. I know it's not ideal as you can't play online MP/Zombies but you can at least play the campaign/Bots MP/Solo Zombies.

SplitScreen mod part 2 - It's in the works

First of all: no, you are going nowhere with Steam version (unless somebody realizes the magic of this or this tool)

Second: retail is really fine. You don't need cracks, "lan fixes" or anything like that.
even though for some reason my DVD drive hangs the whole computer every time I insert the disk. So kudos to RELOADED for his universal safedisc loader

Long story short, you'll need to:

  • have at least a CPU core per player
  • make as many in-game profiles and copies of the executable as players
  • remember: r_fullscreen 0, r_mode (and a borderless fullscreen tool perhaps) are your friends

The first instance of the game you start will be the one of the latest player.
When you start another, the previous will fallback to offline mode. In the new one make sure to select another profile.
And so on until you have as many game windows as players

The last you'll have opened (which is going to be still online) should host the LAN lobby

Now, the only thing left is passing controls to the game.
Actual solutions are tools like Xpadder (to make controller look like keyboard) and keyclone (to pass input to more windows at once)
But this sucks. So in Split Play developer I trust

Interestingly, net_lanauthorize is already 0 by default.

  1. Download patch 1.7
  2. CoDWaW-1.6-1.7-PatchSetup.exe /s /b.\
  3. Press OK
  4. msiexec /a "Call of Duty(R) - World at War(TM) 1.7 Patch.msi" /qn TARGETDIR="%cd%\Setup\"

Now, if only I could manage to merge the thing in a single command...

Vetle (talkcontribs)

Something like start /wait CoDWaW-1.6-1.7-PatchSetup.exe /s /b"%cd%"&&msiexec /a "Call of Duty(R) - World at War(TM) 1.7 Patch.msi" /qn TARGETDIR="%cd%\Setup\" might work. Also, it shouldn't prompt you now.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Cool!
I mean... you still have to press OK in the error box.. though that's not as problematic as I thought.

/q switch isn't needed then (and I don't even think it's an Installshield parameter)

Just to clarify, PunkBuster does belong in the MP section of Middleware

The editing guide lists PunkBuster in the multiplayer row of its example Middleware table. Additionally, it states that multiplayer middleware is software "that provides the base of multiplayer support or assists with some other aspect relating to it (anti-cheat, matchmaking, etc.)"

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

Odd I don't recall that being there. Thanks for info.

Last year, there's a user by the name of Zmansk88 managed to emulate the split screen feature that was cut from the console versions, did you seen that video?

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

Post the video?

It doesn't really look like a true splitscreen mode, it looks really hacky.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

I had already tried something similar with CoD4. Assuming it's the same with WaW, the actual problem for normal people is that you need to launch two times the client.

And I can't remember if it was some kind of license check or something else, you can't have the same executable running twice (I didn't try to make a copy of the original exe and launch it though)

If it's the former case then the lan patch might be somewhat rightful, if it's not (after reading this) it's just a crack to play with forged keys.

Last but not least, I'm not even sure if this could be considered splitscreen, since you are actually running two client, with two different processes, duplicated resources and all.

Said this, personally, I'd support everything to extend the life of the pre-IWnet CoDs

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

The MW2 multiplayer is so fun.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Ok, every mp is probably fun.

Still, no way I can accept p2p servers with no mod support.
And besides, I hate how starting from that DLCs are no longer free for pc and cost an arm and a leg.

Jitterdoomer (talkcontribs)

Actually, both Borderlands 1 and 2 lack a split screen coop, so the modder decides to run a third party program that can run two windows of the game in one PC and used LAN for the X window to connect to the server and let the Y window would join into the X's server.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Really? :/

I always assumed that since Split Play was supporting L4D and portal (which have a native splitscreen mode hackable with some commands) something similar was also applying to borderlands..

Well, ok then.
