Hi! Great work on this wiki.
You think it will be possible to change "toggle to aim" to "hold to aim"?
Best regards
phila
Also the toggle walk is horrible. Just horrible. When I stop, that doesn't mean I want to run again when I move. THAT'S WHY A TOGGLED WALK!
Unfortunately user key bindings are encoded within .ini file so unless someone can decode it properly, most likely there will be no workaround or fix for this.
Funny enough "hold to Aim" works perfectly fine if you use a Xbox controller with the second layout -.- So they thought it's important to have that option on the controler but not with mouse?
Fix has been found and added to the article: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/BioShock_Infinite#Hold_to_aim_down_sights
I was watching the WTF is... for BioShock Infinite and TB name dropped PCGamingWiki. Just thought that was funny. It's about this far into the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YwuYhCgQWOc#t=278s
Second consecutive game for me to enforce this weird new ban on remapping the Enter key (Far Cry 3 being the other).
Any ideas on how to manually bind the key? And secondly, anyone have any idea why this ban seems to be infecting these newer titles? It's really killing me.
You could create custom keyboard layout on system level - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/goglobal/bb964665.aspx - and switch to this keyboard before playing BSI. Unfortunately keybinds within games .ini file are encrypted so in my opinion this is the only option.
You can use AutoHotKey if you're having difficulties. I used AutoHotKey to replace KP_Enter with a new binding.
Just encountered another issue that I can't quite figure out.
My game works fine with no issues, however my housemates PC is the same specs as me, just his hard drive setup is different. He was getting some stuttering issues, whilst maintaining a good fps >60. We then tried editing the XEngine.ini file in:
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config\
Here is the problem. It's not there. At all. On either of his hard drives. The file doesn't seem to have been created! Anyone else seen this problem?
Have you tried to search for XEngine.ini file by file search? Also hit Win key+R and paste whole string there: %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config\ and it should get you there.
Another idea: is your settings saved? Because if yes, these .ini files must be somewhere. Steam cloud is saving only game progress and key bindings I think.
Right, still haven't nailed the issue, but no. His setting are not being saved at all. His saves are though. The Steam cache was verified and it downloaded one file, but this still did not solve the issue. Though updating his drivers maginally solved the stuttering issue.
Then I think your have busted user rights in your windows profile. You can try these:
- start the game with admin rights
- win+r -> gpedit.msc -> look there for access restrictions for your user profile
- download Total Commander, navigate to C:\Users\ and if folder with name of your windows profile has little lock icon, you are pretty much screwed and the fastest solution is to clean reinstall of your OS. This happened to me once and after few days spend on google I finaly gave up.
I would very much like to see this feature. I got my ass handed to me on hard and barely got any weapon or Vigor upgrades (still beat the game though). I think it would make the game more replayable and 1999 Mode more fun (as in, harder to kill but not ridiculously hard).
My PC is hooked up via HDMI to my receiver from my gtx 680
In-game audio is loudest behind me(particularly voices) and on my right side almost completely silent. The problem is not as widespread as the graphical issues, but it severely ruins gameplay when I can't hear what the characters are saying unless I turn my back to them.
My system works fine and I've tested it with other games that use 5.1(I've tried turning on loudness equalization under windows sound properties, and I've tried looking for possible modifiers in the XEngine.ini to no avail.
I have my pc hooked up to my receiver via optical. Bioshock infinite will not output Dolby digital or dts digital for me. It simply sends PCM stereo to my receiver. I am able to get Dolby or dts thru many other sources on my pc, so I know this is specific to this game.
Some players on the PC version have been noticing their audio crackling. For some odd reason updating your drivers to the appropriate version (314.22 for Nvidia and 13.3 for AMD) AND switching your game to compatability for Windows Vista (SP2) fixes the problem. Confirmed after 6 hours of play after I did this and no crackling AT all.
