EAX AHD..so.. is it backwards compatible?

Everybody knows Bioshock is EAX 5 (I mean.. 128 voices with reverberations and so on are featured everywhere)

The in-game switch works on EAX 4 class hardware too though..
So? Is it something merit of FMOD? Or do this also happen with other EAX games?

As side note.. anybody ever tried to update FMOD? Any change?

EDIT: ok this seems to explain many things

Things to cleanup or add

  • How to use Flawless Widescreen on it's own page.
  • Flawless Widescreen for BioShock. Along with some screenshots seeing as they would actually be useful, or maybe text saying X value means Y FOV.
  • Moar cleanup, cleaning up the sound solutions there, although less clusterfucky than what they are now.
  • DX9 can fix some z-fight/lighting issues?

To do, add a comparision or something like in the pc reports to the article about the win 8 broken ligh thing.

Missing 2K games Folder in Program Files (x86)

I do not seem to have a '2K games' folder in 'Program Files (x86)', rendering things like the fov fix impossible. Anyone know why an entire folder is missing for me?

EDIT: Apologies, apparently the files normally found in the '2K games' folder are in the steam directory.

Incoherent Fort Frolic game ending issue

I reworded "if you leave the level using the Bathysphere you entered with before you complete Cohen's Masterpiece when you return to the level: the curtain that needs to be open to perform that quest will be permanently closed.", "(Good luck decyphering that; I can't.)", to now say: "In Fort Frolic, do not leave the level using the Bathysphere that you begin the level next to. If you do leave Fort Frolic using that Bathysphere then when you return to Fort Frolic the curtain that needs to be open to perform the "Cohen's Masterpiece" quest will be permanently closed. If this happens then you cannot get to the Fort Frolic exit Bathysphere to progress to the next level."

Hope you're happy. ;) :p

Crash when trying to start the game (Steam)

Anyone else having problem starting the game?(steam version, win7) Fixed it by using "run as win 98", worth adding?

"Certain events will reset the FOV"

Does anyone know if it's possible to assign multiple actions to a key binding to avoid this? So, say, bind W (forward) to both forward _and_ reset FOV?

Depends on what can you find in config files, I don't have it installed so I cant tell you precisely. But this is early Unreal 3 engine game so check similar games for guides like Mass Effect (series) or Dishonored. These contains binding guides that can help you.

And if you figure something out don't hesitate to add you finding to Bioshock page!

Can we start a Bioshock 2 section ?

I had an issue with performance in Bioshock 2.. the game was having a terrible frame rate even though I had a card that was higher than their recommended level. The frame rate remained low even after I lowered all the graphics settings to their lowest. Finally after lot of trial and error and some help from some gaming forums, I found the culprit. It was the Ambient Occlusion.
