Key points

Original arcade version released for Sega NAOMI hardware in 2001 with successive home versions for Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox 360 (Live Arcade) and Android. An updated arcade version was released in 2013 for PC-based Taito Type X² hardware through NESiCAxLive distribution system
The PC version was released through Steam in 2014 and is reportedly based on the latest arcade release
Uses Steam for global leaderboards, achievements and ability to upload/download replays
The PC version uses analog movement for player's ship (similar to Xbox 360 version) as opposed to the purely digital movement used in the earlier versions. The original digital movement is still available through digital controllers such as D-pad and keyboard
The August 2014 update added Appendix to the PC version, although some of the text in Soundtrack and Documents is missing unless switching game's language to Japanese

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/253750/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (253750) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
