Key points

Includes the "Easy" mode from Final Fantasy XIII Ultimate Hits International. This can be considered the definitive version of the game with custom resolution and 60FPS support.
Good general performance with efficient CPU and GPU usage.[1][2]
Contains 720p assets (such as font and HUD),[3][4] poorly encoded 720p Bink FMVs with minor artifacts,[3][5][6] inconsistent FPS, low audio volume and no controller vibration support.
Custom display resolution, shadow resolution and anti-aliasing (MSAA) options added on December 11,[7] though higher display resolutions may encounter a glitch related to missing text during enemy scans.[8]

Availability

All versions require Steam.

Essential improvements

The game at 2560x1440 resolution.

Remove unused FMVs to free up space

Features dual audio English and Japanese for the ROW release.[3] Removing the FMV files for either language frees about 20 GB of space.[9]
Verification and updating by Steam will redownload the files.[10]

Video settings

Example of pixelated and jagged shadows.
Launcher options in ROW version.
Adjust shadow resolution in the launcher or else they may appear pixelated and jagged.[11]

Anti-aliasing (AA)

Nvidia users can follow this guide at Guru3D for alternative hardware AA.

Follow the guide to modify AA settings if various issues arise, as the game needs very specific settings to function correctly with Nvidia cards.[12]

Input settings

Only supports DirectInput despite recommending an XInput controller (will not use the XInput driver of a controller). Controller mapping is locked to be the same as XInput controllers. Lacks controller vibration support entirely (found in the console versions).[3][13][14]
In-game options in ROW version.

Issues unresolved

Inconsistent FPS

While there are several workarounds and fixes for inconstant FPS (an issue not entirely unique to the PC port[15][16]), for some this remains unresolved and may be due to issues with the game itself rather than tied to resource usage such as the GPU or CPU.[17][18]
Instructions

Issues fixed

Launcher doesn't launch

Instructions

Could not secure sufficient VRAM

This issue occurs when launching the game due to the inability to allocate the required VRAM.[19]
Check if you meet the system requirements through Steam. It can be done directly by entering steam://checksysreqs/292120 in a web browser. There are additional checks such as Can You RUN it available.[19]
Run "dxdiag.exe" and ensure at least 256MB is shown under "Approx. Total Memory" under the "Display" tab.[19]
Instructions

Abnormal eyelashes and hair

File:Eyeliner.png
Abnormal eyelashes and hair with Lightning.
This issue occurs when MSAA is disabled as it's required for proper alpha to coverage.[20]
This fix is for Nvidia users. Normally AMD users cannot force AA off with the GPU control panel.
Instructions

Macroblock-like hair artifacts

This fix is for Nvidia users with GeForce 400 series (Fermi architecture) or higher and occurs only when using MSAA (on by default).[12][21]
