Key points
- The game has two major fan-made patches and it is highly recommended to install one of them (NOT both). The Unofficial Fallout 2 Patch fixes large number of bugs remaining in the game even after official patches. Fallout 2 Restoration Project combines these fixes with major modifications and additions and is closer to mod than patch
- Many (but not all) veterans recommend Restoration Project only after playing through the vanilla game at least once, so Unofficial patch may be a better choice for beginners
- The GOG.com version of Fallout runs the best on modern operating systems

Fallout 2 High Resolution Patch
- Modifies the game exe file to allow higher resolutions, windowed mode, and various other enhancements

Fallout 1.5: Ressurection
- This is major game modification (fan made), basically whole new game with new gameline and quests, about 25 hours of gameplay. Due to the author's origin it's in Czech language, but English translation is in progress (about 1/3 done by 7/2014)

- Use D3D9 for rendering for a much improved compatibility with never systems. Also allow to bind mouse wheel
