Version differences

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition is the complete edition with all DLC.

Loading DLC

Once a DLC pack is bought and downloaded, it must be enabled from the splash screen of Fallout: New Vegas, under the Data Files menu option. Make sure each DLC pack is checked.

Essential improvements

Mod Hosts

Mod Managers

  • Nexus Mod Manager - a manager that allows you to download, install, update and manage your files through an easy to use interface. It integrates with the Nexus sites.
  • Mod Organizer - a tool for managing mod collections. It is specifically designed for people who like to experiment with mods and thus need an easy and reliable way to install and uninstall them.
  • Fallout Mod Manager - a fork of the original FOMM, with updates and new features.
Maximum amount of enabled plugins (mods) is 150. Having more than 149 plugins enabled may lead to crashes on startup, missing animations, textures and sounds.

Fixes and Patches

New Vegas Anti-Crash

Requires New Vegas Script Extender
Reduces crash frequency (especially in the case of heavy modding)
Minor general performance improvements

New Vegas Stutter Remover

Requires New Vegas Script Extender
Fixes the stutter bug

Yukichigai Unofficial Patch

Concentrates only on bug fixes without game changing effects
Is compatible with all mods, as long as it loads directly after the FalloutNV and DLC .esm files

Mission Mojave - Ultimate Edition

Is not compatible with other patch mods, like Yukichigai Unofficial Patch.
Requires all DLCs to be downloaded and installed in order to work.
A huge bugfix with about 27,000 fixes.
A few questionable fixes that are not entirely vanilla

JSawyer

Requires all DLCs to be downloaded and installed in order to work.
A "general difficulty tweak and bug fix mod" by the creator of the game, JSawyer.

New Vegas Uncut

Mod author MoBurma has listed content which has been cut from the game due to time constraints.
Restores content from the game in a number of individual mods.
Many mods in the series are not compatible with each other, and are not necessarily suited to use in a full playthrough.

Issues fixed

TweakGuides has created a comprehensive guide for fixing issues in this game. It can be found here.

Characters "Throwing Up"

This usually occurs when trying to quit the game.
Instructions

Game Stuck On Loading Screen

Sometimes attempting to 'load' a save game does not work.

This happens when you start the game, and have mods that utilize NVSE. (New Vegas Script Extender)
Instructions

Instructions

Instructions
If you chose to delete the .nam files, you can recover them by verifying the game data files integrity in Steam.

Application load error 5:0000065434

You get Applicaton load error 5:0000065434, when launching the game in any other way than through Steam. The cause for this is inappropriate Steam AppID being used. This can happen when you have a Polish, Czech or Russian version of the game.
