Availability

Template:Availability Table

Retail versions of Borderlands can be activated on Steam via the Borderlands Granting Tool, found in the Steam Tools section.

Game of the Year Edition

The most complete version is Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition which contains the base game and all of the expansions.

Downloadable content (DLC)

DLC cannot be mixed and matched between Steam and non-Steam versions.[2] DLC from other sources can however be activated on Steam.

Essential improvements

Borderlands Config Tool

Borderlands Config Tool unlocks a number of settings not available in the in-game menu.

Borderlands Config Tool tool allows you to do the following and more:[3]

  • Disable Startup Movies
  • Disable story introduction movies
  • Disable mouse smoothing
  • Disable in-game voice chat
  • Windowed mode
  • V-sync
  • Change FOV
  • Increase Difficulty (LAN only)

NOTE: Make sure to run the game and change a keybind in the options at least once before running the tool. This will create the necessary .ini files and should fix options being disabled in the tool.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/8980/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (8980) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
