By default, game controller buttons are for 360 controllers and button prompts will stay 360 buttons. Example file and instructions can be found under <path-to-game>\extras\ which has DualShock 4 and OUYA controller bindings ready.
Create and edit joystick.cfg[citation needed]
  1. Copy <path-to-game>\extras\joystick.cfg to <path-to-game>\joystick.cfg.
  2. Start the game and press F11 to access controller configuration.
  3. Open joystick.cfg with preferred text editor, at the bottom start new section.
    1. Write similarly to examples in the file # Name of the controller
    2. Push any button within game window and it should show id XXXX/XXXX. Copy this to config file.
    3. Now withing game window, press button you would want to represent A-button, then write given value to config, example B_00 A. Repeat to other buttons and axis.
  4. When ready, save the file, restart the game, access control configuration with F11 and test that buttons are in right places.
