See the glossary page for potential alternatives.

Borderless fullscreen windowed

Instructions[citation needed]
  1. Download and install Windowed Borderless Gaming
  2. Run the desired game in a windowed mode, Right Click on the Windowed Borderless Gaming tray icon.
  3. Click on Add window (F3), then Alt+Tab back to the game and push F3.
  4. Now the game will be borderless.

Notes

Right Click the Windowed Borderless Gaming tray icon and click on Open game settings to set the resolution to your desktop resolution as not doing so will cause some elements such as the Quake Chat to be partially obstructed from view.

Issues fixed

Game not visible in Steam library

If you got the game for free after being grandfathered in, it might not be visible in your Steam library.
In Google Chrome, you may need to use Ctrl+ Enter to properly open the URL.
Steam URL[9]
  1. Enter this Steam URL into your browser address bar: steam://install/282440/.
  2. The browser will ask to open the URL in Steam.
  3. The install prompt for Quake Live should then appear, and the game will remain in your library as long as it is installed.

OS X port

Available at The Porting Team.

Notes

  1. File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/282440/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (282440) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
