Issues fixed

Lag on multi-monitor systems

Having more than one monitor can cause game-crippling lag.
If problems persist with either method below try running the game in Zoom Mode instead of Fullscreen Mode.
Set single display mode (Nvidia cards)[citation needed]
  1. Open the Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Make a new profile for Fortune Summoners (sotes.exe in the installation folder).
  3. Under 3D Settings choose Manage 3D settings.
  4. Change multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration to single display performance mode.
  5. Click Save to save your changes.
  6. Run the game again.
Disable additional monitors[citation needed]
  1. Disable additional monitors.
  2. Start the game.
  3. Enable the monitors when finished.

Performance issues on Windows 8 and newer

Method 1: apply DxWrapper[1]
  1. Download the latest release of DxWrapper.
  2. Unpack the contents of the archive to a folder and copy the files dxwrapper.dll, dxwrapper.ini, and ddraw.dll (found in the Stub subfolder) to the game installation directory.
  3. Double-click the copied dxwrapper.ini file to edit it, change the line DDrawCompat = 0 to DDrawCompat = 1 and save the changes.
Method 2: apply dgVoodoo 2
  1. Download the latest release of dgVoodoo 2.
  2. Unpack the contents of the archive to a folder and copy the file DDraw.dll (found in the MS folder) to the game installation directory.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/203510/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (203510) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
